FEARless

How to Manage Change – 4 Steps to Build RESILIENCE

Buckle up … build resilience.

“One of the major issues most of us face, is finding the energy to go the distance each day. What baffles many, is developing the discipline needed to build enthusiasm to develop our physical, mental and emotional endurance.” Tracy Tully

Author Tracy Tully, opens her book with the following:

WARNING!!!! Be fearless, don’t proceed with caution!

Tracy takes readers on a discovery journey of the road less travelled, by building resilience and growing self-confidence, relating each chapter of enlightenment to ‘one road trip at a time’.

For some of us, we don’t understand that we tolerate and accept the chaos we live in ignoring that we’re stuck in our comfort zones. We can’t change because our lives are predictable, safe and secure, that is of course, until our worlds come crashing down around us. What we don’t see is that we’re desperately guarding our world from falling apart to protect our sanity. By doing this, we condemn ourselves to life in a world where we are constantly overwhelmed and don’t know how to break free.

Joy Allardyce (Shipway) was born on Armistice Day, 11th November 1930 and grew up in the Sydney beach suburb of Maroubra.

Her love of flying began in her teens when she travelled on a DC-3 to Evans Head, enroute to Nimbin, then later to Wagga Wagga, enroute to Tumut, also on a DC-3. In 1951 she flew to Hayman Island by Flying Boat taking off from Rose Bay, Sydney Harbour. The return flights from Hayman were via Proserpine to Brisbane (DC-3) and Brisbane to Sydney (DC-3) and it was not long after she returned that Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA) advertised for young ladies interested in becoming an Air Hostess (hostie) to send in applications. Joy applied and was accepted!

Joy has had short stories, human interest stories and poems published and in 1987 was awarded the Year 12 English prize through the Queensland Secondary Correspondence School. Joy studied Professional Journalism and worked for the West Australian newspaper while living in Mount Newman, in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Joy has criss-crossed Australia many times and lived in most States, including Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. In the early 1960’s she lived in Malaysia while her husband served as a doctor in the Royal Australian Air Force and spent 1982 on Norfolk Island.

Mother of three successful daughters, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Joy now lives high on a hill overlooking the city of Toowoomba.

COME FLY WITH ME… ON A DC-3 is about the flying days of all those dedicated hosties who crewed the intrepid DC-3 when they worked single-handed and did not belong to a union!

Now that I have arrived at a great age I might just as well be twenty.”
